Welcome, Class of 2030

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is preparing to begin a new academic year by welcoming its newest cohort of future oral healthcare professionals. The incoming Class of 2030 joins one of the nation’s most competitive dental programs, reflecting the school’s continued growth, reputation, and appeal among aspiring dentists.

For this admissions cycle, RSDM received 4,656 applications for 97 spots in its traditional DMD program, which translates to an acceptance rate of around 2 percent. The application pool also grew significantly, increasing by roughly 13 percent compared with the previous admissions cycle.

Interest in RSDM’s Internationally Educated DMD program also continued to rise, with applications increasing by three percent. The program provides internationally trained dentists with the education and clinical experience needed to transition successfully into the U.S. healthcare system.

“RSDM is currently the second most sought-after public dental school in the nation by application volume, and we continue to attract some of the most qualified applicants from across the country and around the world,” said Associate Dean for Admissions Rosa Chaviano-Moran. “Our growing international presence is built on partnerships with dental schools abroad, spanning South Korea, Ireland, Spain, India, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Chile. We are among the few, if not the only, dental schools that can provide such an international exposure to our students.”

Growth at RSDM extends beyond its predoctoral programs. This year, 46 post-graduate students and residents across dental specialties have joined RSDM programs, entering specialty training that spans endodontics, general practice residency, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, among other fields.
