RSDM Establishes New Student Emergency Fund
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) has created an endowed student emergency fund with the generosity of Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Diagnostic Sciences Michele A. Schultz-Robins ’89 and her husband, Andrew B. Robins, Law’86.
The fund will provide financial assistance to dental students experiencing primarily food insecurity and other unexpected financial hardships that could otherwise interrupt their education.
“We believe no student should have to worry about basic needs while trying to learn and grow,” the couple said. “Every student deserves the opportunity to focus on their education, not on where their next meal is coming from. Providing this kind of critical support can make a meaningful difference, and we are pleased that the RSDM Student Emergency Fund will strengthen our community’s commitment to the future of dentistry.”
The emergency fund is intended to assist as many students as possible in the years to come, with the goal of expanding its reach as additional donors contribute.
“The fund will help students manage immediate crises in the short term and connect them to other resources we have at Rutgers University,” said Assistant Dean for Campus Life Herminio L. Perez.
Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Associate Dean for Student Affairs Janine Fredericks-Younger added: “The fund provides the safety net to students who need it when unexpected challenges arise.”
Students can apply using this form.
