In part 1 of this two-session series, Dr. El Gendy will cover the following involving digital dentistry and removable prothesis.

The conventional way of fabricating complete removable prosthesis has not changed in the past 50 years. The process involves multiple clinical appointments.  Each appointment requires considerable amount of time and material used both clinically and in the laboratory. This means the whole process is subject to human processing errors, inaccuracies, and further increased time and cost.

Digitally fabricated complete removable prosthesis will revolutionize the way dentists are treating completely edentulous patients. In the past few years, digitally designed and manufactured Complete Removable Prosthesis have improved significantly due to advancement in scanning, designing, and manufacturing.  Part 2 will be held on October 15, 2024 via live webinar.

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Identify the diverse clinical workflows involved in this process
• Gain insight into the various components utilized in CAD/CAM technology for fabricating digital complete removable prostheses
• Learn about scanning technique
• Discuss the workflow of making a duplicate of a complete removable prosthesis
• Discuss the workflow of fabricating Immediate Digital Complete Removable Prosthesis
• Discuss the workflow of fabricating Digital Complete Removable Prosthesis
• Discuss different manufacturing techniques employed in this innovative approach

Dr. El-Gendy, is a Professor and the Director of Prosthodontics at The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, ATSU. He obtained his dental degree from Cairo University’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1996. Dr. El-Gendy then pursued advanced training in Prosthodontics and earned his Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 2001. Additionally, he completed a Postdoctoral Implant Dentistry Fellowship at The Ohio State University in 2002, focusing on advanced implant patient restoration and the treatment of implant complications. Dr. El-Gendy earned his DMD  from Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in 2010.

Following his fellowship, Dr. El-Gendy joined The Ohio State University College of Dentistry as a full-time assistant professor in 2002. His exceptional dedication to education led to the recognition of his outstanding teaching abilities, receiving the Larry Peterson Outstanding Young Educator Award from Ohio State University in 2004 and being named The Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2005 and 2009.

Since 2004, Dr. El-Gendy has been a member of the faculty at The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, where he imparts his expertise in courses such as Complete Denture, All Ceramic Restorations, and Dental Implants, to pre-doctoral and graduate students. His commitment to sharing knowledge extends to national and international platforms, where he delivers lectures in various continuing education courses and meetings.

With a specialization in prosthodontics, Dr. El-Gendy’s practice focuses primarily on fixed and removable prosthodontics, esthetic dentistry, and implant restorations. His practice is conveniently located in Phoenix, Arizona, where he offers his patients exceptional care and expertise.

Dr. El-Gendy has been appointed as a member of the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners since January 2021, contributing to the regulation and advancement of dental practices. Additionally, he serves as a CDCA (Commission on Dental Competency Assessments) examiner since 2020, ensuring the high standards of dental competence and professionalism.
