You Can’t Ignore Them: Geriatric Patients and…

May 15

Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

Presented by
DR. EVAN SPIVACK

The population of individuals with complex health care needs is large and growing. Dentists and dental offices today must understand these populations and the special challenges and opportunities they afford. Devoting half a day each to geriatrics and developmental disabilities, we will explore the lessons that can be gleaned from these patients, how to best provide dental care for these individuals and how the lessons learned here can apply to dental care for the patient population at large.

By the completion of this course, you will:

  • Understand the changes in aging that affect dental care.
  • Recognize oral considerations associated with various developmental disabilities.
  • Utilize the “diagnosis first” approach to patient management.
  • Apply the principles of special care dentistry to daily clinical practice.
