Local Anesthetic and Pain Control: Recertification for Dental Hygienist

This is a 4-hour course available ONLINE through Rutgers School of Dental Medicine

The course was developed by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine to meet all the requirements as set forth by the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry.

We will provide four hours of didactic lecture material necessary for recertification of a licensed Dental Hygienist in local anesthesia. The lectures will cover pharmacology of local anesthetics and reversal agents, along with a review of maxillary and mandibular injection techniques. Lectures will also be presented on management of medical emergencies encountered during the administration of a local anesthetic along with emergency cart preparation.

• Emergency Equipment and Preparation – The Emergency Cart.
• Pharmacology of Local Anesthesia.
• Techniques of Maxillary Anesthesia.
